Rondo Days 2016

Rondo Days is Saturday July 16th and Voice of Culture is teaming up with the Million Artists Movement again for the parade, peformance stage and festival in Saint Paul.  Here are the details:

1. Parade - 9am line up at St. Peter Claver 

We will line up for the Grande Day Parade at 9am near St. Peter Claver School located at 1060 W. Central Avenue in St. Paul.  Our parade unit is 19 (nineteen).  We are wearing VoC attire or African clothes or Pan Afrikan colors, carrying our signs, we will have the ancestor puppets.  No drums in the parade.  Million Artist Movement is Marching with us. The parade begins at 10am.

2. Performance - 12:30 check in at stage

VoC+MAM created a performance piece celebrating Rondo.  Our performance slot is 12:45-12:55.  VoC drummers will drum Sinte while Talief, Simone, Khetasar, Sienah, Queen and Heaven perform the dance and spoken word.

3.  Festival

Million Artist Movement will host a tent in the Rondo Days festival Village.  There will be an Ida B Wells Loom artmaking activity and we will be recruiting folks to work on the “Art to Power” projects.  VoC should participate in all the artmaking and help out at the tent, as well as enjoy the Rondo Days festival.

VoC will be leaving Rondo Days about 3:30pm to go to our next performance in Burnsville at the International Arts Festival.

We will also be joining the Journey Productions at the Hopkins Center for the Arts for the ‘Young, Gifted and Black” showcase and youth after party!
